Past indefinite tense की पहचान क्या है? :
sentence में अगर के अंत में या, यी , ता थी , ते थे , ती थे , आदि शब्द आते है।
अगर sentence में yesterday, ago या past का कोई सन या last time दिया हो तो sentece past indefinite tense में ही prefer होता है।

- डाकिया ने कॉलोनी में पात्र बाटे – The postman delivered letters in the colony.
- रानी ने मधुर गीत गाया – Rani sang a sweet song.
- वह जयपुर में पढ़ी – She studied at Jaipur.
- उसने मुझे गाली दी – He abused me.
- मैंने झाड़ियों में चूहा देखा – I saw a mouse in the bushes.
- तुम उस बगीचे में खेले – You played in the garden.

अगर sentece में कोई past का समय न दिया हो लेकिन वह एक ऐसा Effect है जो speaker को पता है तब भी past indefinite में बनता है।
ज्यादातर इसमें past की घटना होती है
- Godse killed Gandhi.
- Rama killed Ravana.
#rule2.
अगर कुछ phrases हो it is time, it was time, it is high time, it is about time तथा उनके बाद कोई subject लिखा हो तो हमेशा Past Indefinite tense का उपयोग किया जाता है।
- It is time/ It was time/ It is high time/ It is about time + sub + v2 या did not v1
- It is time for you/ me/ him/ her + to v1
- It is time + to + v1
Example:
- It is high time you went to your brother.
- It is time for you to study.
- It is time to study.
#rule3.
अगर sentece में as if या as though दिया हो तो इनके पहले बाला clause किसी भी tense में हो सकता है लेकिन इनके बाद past indefinite या sub + were + subject/ pronoun/ adjective.
- She poses as if she was Aiswarya.
- He behaves as if the earth belonged to him.

अगर sentence conditional है तो if clause Past Indefinite में है तो अगला clause में would could might + v1 का उपयोग करते है।
- If they asked ablout the address I would tell them.
- If akash had a BMW he would give it to mahish.

अगर past में दो काम एक साथ हो तो दोनों ही past indefinite में होंगे।
- उसने मुझसे मदद मांगी लेकिन मैंने मना कर दिया।
- He asked me for help but I refused.

जब भी who से subject पूछा जाये ( यानि subject गायब हो ) तब भी who के साथ (do, does, did) का उपयोग नहीं करते है यही कारण है की who वाला sentece कभी कभी Interrogative होते हुए भी उसमे helping verb नहीं होता है तथा सीधे main verb रहती है।
